Amazon Blood (The Amazons as a human Subspecies)

(a.k.a.: "The Children of Hera"; "The Arandolian Amazons".)

The Amazons of Arandolia are, before anything else, their very own separated subspecies of human kind. They are mortals who bleed and die just like anyone else, breathing the same air and depending on the same water, warmth and food to survive. But their long isolation since immemorial times at their distant island nation rendered them significantly different from the rest of humanity, and that is just as much of a blessing as it is a curse for them.

To any ordinary European person, the first glance upon an average Amazon might not look all that different from a common nordic caucasian female at the flower of her youth. But upon carefully observing an entire city full of amazons, the blatant discrepancies start to get more and more evident. Firstly, there aren't any old amazons anywhere to be seen. That's because, for a yet unknown reason, every amazon completely stops aging as soon as they reach the peak of adulthood around the age of 25 to 30 years old. They never get white hair, wrinkles or any kind of health complications from old age, being thoroughly immune to the decaying effects of time and thus able to preserve eternal youth for as long as they can manage to keep breathing.

That's not forever, though. War, diseases and famine can kill an amazon just like any other person. Death is therefore always right there around the corner, awaiting more patiently than usual to reap an amazon soul, but awaiting nonetheless.

On the other hand, the lack of deaths from old age causes the amazon population to grow in numbers much faster than normal humans, which long ago prompted the arandolians to discover and cultivate contraceptive herbs in large scale as a so much needed form of population control. Each couple of mothers usually end up having just a couple of daughters, and that is enough to grant a steady growth to their cities, instead of an outright explosion of amazon newborns every year.

And speaking of amazon reproduction, perhaps even more shocking than the lack of elders is the fact that there are absolutely no men amongst the amazon society. Their entire civilization is composed solely of gorgeous youthful women, and as odd as it might seem, they do manage to reproduce quite well. That's because only half of the amazons are actual females. The other half are not "women" as the rest of the world would see them, having the opposing sex's reproductive organs instead.

While the actual females are called "womb-women" or "womb-amazons" within their society, the ones with male reproductive organs are called "seed-women" or "seed-amazons". However, both sexes do see and understand themselves as women, because aside from their genitalia, they are very similar in appearance, physiology, tone of voice and demeanor. Every amazon has fully functional breasts, no body hair and a curvaceous body, usually being culturally seen as equals in rights and duties, no matter the gender.

All amazons work, study, fight and can get any role they want in and out of home, making their society mostly egalitarian in the regards of gender, with a few exceptions. That does not extend to social classes though, as there is an arandolian nobility and an amazon clergy ruling over the masses of commoners. They are all governed by a Queen of all the Amazons, with a whole entourage of Duchesses, Countesses and Baronesses holding their own smaller plots of land. Knighted dames form the elite of the arandolian military forces, while priestesses devoted to the many goddesses of this land guide the population in their age-old polytheistic religion, largely inspired in the feminine deities of Ancient Greece.

As for personal relationships, the Amazons of Arandolia are essentially polygamous. Monogamy exists and is well-respected, but marriages only bind the couple to have extramarital relationships under their respective wives' permition, which is not so culturally hard to get for either sexes. That's because amazons are really open and clear about sex and love. Lewdness isn't a taboo in their society, so they express their deepest lusts freely, often flirting and making love in public places without the slightest shame in the world.

Amazon Cultural Ethnicities

Just like with the rest of the human kind, the Amazons of Arandolia are a very heterogeneous people amongst themselves. Several cultural clashes happen within their isolated nation, up to the point where a few diverse cultural ethnicities can be observed.

Those main Amazon Cultural Ethnicities are:

Amazon Exceptional Races

Although the vast majority of the amazon people is very similar to what was described above, just like anything else in life, there are exceptions even amongst their isolated island nation. Exceptions those that occured naturally over the course of thousands of years, fruits of mutations that adapted certain ancient clans to entirelly new phenotypes, which significantly diverge from the common average Arandolian Amazon.
