Edgelanders (Untainted)
A.K.A.: "Bog-dwellers"; "Accursed/Forsaken Ones"
Homeland: The Edgelands
Distinctive Characteristics: Unusual pale skin tone and either too bright or too dark eyes, contrasting a lot with their typical raven-black hair colour. Aquiline noses are also a very distinguishable Edgelander facial feature, though there are many forsaken foreigners living amongst their kin.
Cultural Traits: Edgelanders are anarchists, lawless amazons living on the fringe of society. Morally corrupt and utterly untrustworthy, they are hardly ever up to any good.

Being born in the Edgelands is tough. A lawless swampy region where misery is commonplace, crime runs rampant and the streets are utterly overwhelmed by countless gangs of smugglers, drug dealers, brigants, pirates or worse. The local inhabitants are deeply marginalized, many times forced to steal or even murder to survive, ever since the early years of their lives. Only the toughest children amongst them ever reach adulthood, only to inevitably join the criminal underworld or become heretic followers of the fallen amazon deity of chaos, Bloody Eris. Sometimes both.

Those who manage to somehow stay away from heresy and opium addiction are often referred as "Untainted Ones" by their own kin, though that doesn't necessarily mean they live above the law. There are very few lawful job opportunities within the Edgelands, so prostitution and gambling usually are some of the most honest businesses around those putrid bogs. Even the fishers are ex-pirates who managed to steal a fishing boat, while foragers often gather foul poisons in the bogs to be sold in the black market, and even pig farmers are infamous for feeding their animals with human carcasses to cut costs. The Edgelands is a place where survival of the fittest plays a fundamental role in society, and most of the times the honest and the kind-hearted are the very first ones to meet their own demise there.
