Battlefield Role: Seafaring Bandits

Vessel: A stolen and repurposed merchant vessel/war galley.

Weapons: Cutlasses and Boarding Axes.

Outfit: Hard leather corset, pants, boots and gloves.

Skill level: Not bad, for a bunch of raiders with no formal training.

Affiliation: Westmarsh, in the Edgelands

Doctrine: Eris' Way of the Wicked

Strengths: They fight dirty and often resort to cheap trickery to win, like pushing foes overboard amidst combat or faking surrender to deceive enemies, striking them out of the blue.

Weaknesses: Pirates are no more than armed bullies and ruffians. When outnumbered, they'll flee and leave their comrades behind.

Westmarsh Pirates

Like the rest of the Edgelands' filthy bogs, Westmarsh has no government and no formal army or navy. However, they do have a busy harbour full of stolen vessels from all over the coasts of the rest of the nation. Vessels those which are crewed and sailed by unscrupulous local Pirates, preying on any merchant vessels they find and bringing a lot of plunder and loot to be sold at the crowded flea markets of their hometown.

These Pirates might not be the toughest or the best-trained warrioresses to sail the arandolian seas, but they hardly ever are stupid enough to board and fight actual military ships. They only attack unprotected civilian vessels, taking everything and everyone they want and then fleeing before any patrol comes by.

They travel light and fast, always on the prowl for trade ships sailing around the main trade routes that connect the northern and southern coasts of Arandolia. Their most common tactics involve ramming the target vessel and hurling stinky poisonous decoctions all over their deck, making their foes sick and destabilized, right before throwing the grappling hooks to board them.

Most of the times, they take over the attacked vessel itself for themselves, dumping the merchant crew on the nearest abandoned island and expanding their own pirate fleets with the new ship. Any important or wealthy amazon amongst the unlucky targeted crew also gets to be imprisoned and taken to Westmarsh to be ransomed later on, while the ones who can not get a proper ransom for their own heads are usually forced to work as either a deckhand or a prostitute in order to pay for their freedom.

The Pirates are, therefore, actively hunted down by all the other regions' navies, but as long as they are within their own foggy waters of the Edgelands, they are virtually untouchable! No one dares to get that close of Westmarsh, unless they themselves are up to no good either.
