Battlefield Role: Mercenary Heavy Cavalry

Steed: Usually, Southern Half-bred Warhorses.

Weapons: Longsword and a vast shield. A dagger as sidearm.

Outfit: Steel helmet and full plate armour over chain mail. No sigil.

Skill level: Experts at melee combat and horse riding.

Affiliation: Anyone who pays best for their services.

Doctrine: Whatever doctrine they once had, is now long forsaken.

Strengths: Renegades or not, a Dame is a Dame. They fight outstandingly well, both on foot and on horseback.

Weaknesses: Renegades have no master, no allegiance and no oath binding them. As such, they fight for no one but for their very own selves, which means their loyalty is only for the sake of gold.

Renegade Dames

Renegade Dames are ladyless amazons (the amazon equivalent of a lordless knight in Europe, or of a ronin samurai in Japan), who for any reason broke the solemn oaths they once sworn to their respective suzerains. Either by doing something they were forbidden to do, or by outright refusing to follow explicit orders, these once noble riders got stripped from their lands and titles, forever bannished from their home regions with great dishonour staining their names.

Doomed to roam the land without a purpose for their lives, they still proudly wear their armours as they ride their mighty steeds. However, now they bear no sigil, no coat of arms and no colours on their shields. No other noble lady will ever accept their fealty, so they have no other choice but to become overqualified mercenaries at the full disposal for the highest bidder.

Some of those renegades actually enjoy this errant life of vast freedom, as now they usually earn more money and have absolutely no one to tell them what to do or how to behave. If a contract isn't of their liking, they simply turn it down and look for work somewhere else, spending a lot of time in fancy inns and brothels, feasting and enjoying the companies of any whores they want.

On the other hand, there are also those Renegade Dames who feel the dire weight of dishonour on their shoulders. They are no longer obligated to follow the strict codes of chivalry and honour, but a chivalrous life is hard for a dame to ever leave behind. Even though they are still feared and respected by the commoners and by their new temporary employers, their social status is now that of an outcast. No longer are they cheered and praised as honourable heroines or paragons of virtue as they once were, being forced to deal with the bitter soreness from the contempt and the disdain of those who would previously idolize them.
