Red Roam Horse Archers
As the wealthiest clan of Windcliff due to its strong and highly lucrative commercial ties with the neighboring Merchant Republic of Eldara, the Red Roam Clan has some of the best cavalry archers of Arandolia. It is their sworn duty to not only protect the trade routes passing through their territory, but also to watch over the eastern borders of Windcliff, controlling who may come in and out of the serene isolation of the Northern Steppes.

For this, the Red Roam Horse Archers are armed with powerful recurve compound shortbows and armour-piercing arrows that can be shot from horseback while moving, rendering them excellent units to spread out and patrol over long distances. While their masterful archery skills enable them to shoot down brigands and trespassers from afar, their speed and agility grant them enough mobility to avoid any unwanted direct confrontation, aways keeping a safe distance in between themselves and their targets.

As a last resort, these steadfast cavalry archers also carry a knife for close quarters combat, but one will hardly ever see a regiment of them charging onto the enemy. They excel at riding and shooting, not at melee, so they carry 3 extra quivers full of arrows on the back of their horses, which is more than enough ammunition to take down entire enemy cohorts all by themselves.

Of course, learning how to shoot an arrow with even a minimally good level of precision and accuracy while riding a horse galloping at over 48 km/h is not an easy task, demanding a full decade of arduous training at the very least. This makes cavalry archers a very expensive unit to muster, but one that is extremely versatile and deadly on the battlefield. And luckily for the Red Roam Clan, money, horses and time is definitely not an issue.

In fact. the trade with the port of Eldara provides so much income to the clans' coffers that their cavalry archers wear imported silk under their brigandine armour, which is not only really good-looking, but also an excellent extra layer of ultra-light protection from enemy arrows, as silk is a really strong fiber.

As a result, their gear is light and their red roam horses do not get overburneded, assuring even more speed and maneuverabilty than an average rider, which is excellent for shooting down enemy cavalry units too.
