Olympian Hoplites
The once great City of Olympia (the Arandolian one, not the greek) was once a glorious economic, cultural and military powerhouse on the very heart of the Athenian Fields. Their mighty Hoplites had always been one of the sturdiest heavy infantry regiments of Arandolia, which they still are, but now they sadly fight more against themselves than against anyone else.

That's because the ancient City of Olympia now lies in complete ruins thanks to a devastating Earthquake that shattered the entire region down to crumbles long ago. Instead of uniting themselves to rebuild their homes as one single people, the Olympian Amazons began to compete amongst themselves for reclaiming the ruins of the city, initiating a never-ending spiral of aggressiveness that forever divided the region in two.

This gave birth to two almost identical new City-States, one in each edge of the formerly united region's frontiers. At North, North Olympia was built by the margins of Lake Blue, while at South, South Olympia was built on the margins of River Nallas. Both City-States despise each other up to this very day, fighting amongst their own kin in a truly shameful display of hurt pride, which seems already beyond any possible reparation.
The constant state of war amongst those two culturally identical neighbours prevents either of them from ever reaching the glory and the prosperity of what once was Ancient Olympia, while hundreds of amazon women die every year at the frequent skirmishes on their shared borders. However, this only makes their armies better and better, up to the point of their surviving Hoplites possibly being the most experienced war veterans of the entire nation.

Shall North and South Olympia ever miraculously manage to put aside their differences and unite once again, they would certainly be able to achieve unimaginable feats of sheer greatness together. But as long as they are at each other's throats, the only business to trully thrive in their separated City-States is the war business.
