Battlefield Role: Heavy Infantry/Assault Infantry

Weapons: A Great Axe, Warhammer or Polearm. Plus a wide round shield that covers most of their bodies and a hatchet as sidearm.

Outfit: Well adorned plate pieces and fur over brigandine armour and chain mail. Many of them also have tattoos.

Skill level: Experts in heavy weaponry.

Affiliation: The Dwarfholds of Iridia

Doctrine: Bellona's Way of the Warmaiden (adapted to dwarves)

Strengths: Low height and sturdy bones make them really nimble, resistant and hard to hit.

Weaknesses: Short legs means they can't run very fast, but they are said to be very dangerous over short distances.

Iridian Infantry

The dwarven amazons of Iridia may seem small, stubby, rather bulky in build and clumsy-looking at first sight, but if you think any of that makes them weak, you are dead wrong.

Iridian Dwarves are oddly heavier in weight than a full-grown arandolian amazon, even though being barely two thirds as tall. This means they are stocky and very strong for women of their size, with impressively sturdy bones and powerful muscles that enable them to wield heavy weapons with ease. Their low center of gravity makes them very agile and their low stature acts as a great advantage for them since they are hard targets to hit, while the long reach of their weapons of choice more than compensates for the small reach of their short little arms.

Their only disadvantage is that they are quite slow to move around the battlefield due to their obviously short legs, but once they get close enough to an enemy, there is little their foes can do aside from fleeing or praying for their souls.

As some of the best weaponsmiths and armoursmiths of Arandolia, the Iridian Dwarves count with very advanced weaponry and and armour. They also like to adorn all the pieces of equipment they wear in beautiful runic carvings, displaying all their admirable craftsmanship wherever they go. Not that they leave Iridia very much, though. They are quite famous for being very reserved, after all.

But anyone to mess with them is in for some serious trouble. The Iridian "Little Amazons" are a hell of an united bunch, so any fool that dares to make fun of a dwarven lady will have all the dwarven women within a whole mile ready to kick the bastard's ass out of their land! In times of peace, they are already tough to deal with because of their fierce stubbornness, while in war they are implacable foes at any battlefield.
