Dye Baronesses of Riffwall

In the City-State of Riffwall, nothing makes anyone richer than the dye business. Big barrels full of colourful dyes are exported by the tons to every corner of the amazon nation, and while most colours are reasonably cheap, there are those lush and rare colours that are worth a fortune. Tyrian Purple alone is worth its own weight in gold, making any dyeworks owner in Riffwall not only ridiculously rich, but also ridiculously powerful.

That's because the so-called Dye Baronesses of Riffwall are the ruling elite of this rather wealthy City-State. They control the most profitable business of the region, therefore controling the harbour and the maritime trade of Riffwall, along with most of the local armies and fleets. The government is naturally controlled by them as well in the typical Amphitritian Oligarchic fashion, ensuring their busninesses always continue to profit and their power never wavers.

But in order to properly exercise they dominance over the region, the Dye Baronesses have to roll up their sleeves and get to work, managing every asset under their direct influence from up-close. So they assign their closest relatives to importat administrative, political and military offices, making sure to always keep an eye onto the lower classes.

Those highborn amazons flaunt the wealth of their families around as a sign of opulence and power, making sure to show who are in charge of Riffwall. However, they usually rule with a loose hand over the rest of the population, letting the lower class be as long as they don't stand in the way of their profits. In Riffwall, the elite isn't nearly as oppressive or strict as the Salacian Matricians are famous to be, but still the Dye Baronesses are quite arrogant and full of themselves when vanity is concerned.
