Battlefield Role: Highborn Mercenary Assault Infantry

Weapons: A flamberge-style zweihänder sword

(a.k.a.: massive two-handed great sword with an undulated blade)

Outfit: Full plate steel armour over mail and a padded gambeson.

Skill level: Experts in melee. Specialized in Great Swords.

Affiliation: Eulenfeld, in the Persephone's Plains

Doctrine: Persephone's Way of the Redeemer

Strengths: Thick armour, alongside a sword large and long enough to double as a heavy spear of sheer cold steel, makes them really strong as a vanguard unit. Specially effective against cavalry.

Weaknesses: They demand twice the average payment of common mercenaries, claming they deserve to earn twice as much because they take a much bigger risk standing at the vanguard of the army.

Eulenfeld's Doppelsöldnerin

The Doppelsöldnerin Amazons of Eulenfeld are some of the heaviest infantry troops on the Persephonian Plains. Clad in full plate armour and ascending from Eulenfeld's lower nobility, these fearsome warrioresses actually fight for coin just as much they fight for glory, honour and fame. They are famous for their inherent bravery and eagerness to fight at the very vanguard of any battle, though what they are most remembered for is the expensive price they charge for their mercenary services and the rather unusual undulated blade design of their massive zweihänder swords.

Such odd blade design is something only the master smiths of Eulenfeld can craft into hardened spring steel swords, originally intended to mimic the undulations of fire itself, thus being named "flamberge-style". Although it is not all that fiery looking, the design is quite awesome to behold, causing awe and fear on any adversary a dame might face. It grew on popularity so fast in Eulenfeld that almost all the dames who can afford a flamberge great sword actually wield one. Sometimes even contracting loans with high interest rates in order to be able to commission such an exquisite weapon.

While largely decorative, some attributes of the waved blade are actually rather useful in combat. When parrying with such a sword, unpleasant vibrations may be transmitted into the attacker's blade. These vibrations cause the blades to slow contact with each other because additional friction is encountered with each wave, enabling the Doppelsöldnerin to have greater control over her adversary's weapon and making it easier to effectively disarm the foe.
