Assassins for Hire

Assassins for Hire are some of the most neutral and impartial outlaws in Arandolia. Unlike the vast majority of the criminals who prey upon the innocent all around the amazon islands, they usually aren't wicked heretics from the Edgelands, which also means that most of them do not worship Bloody Eris, the fallen Goddess of Chaos and Discord.

On the other hand, they aren't nearly as righteous and honourable as the Wraiths of Hawkwood or as the Headhuntresses of Eagle Island either. They have absolutely no code of conduct, holding absolutely no grudge and no discrimination towards any of their targets, thus killing people just for the sake of coin and nothing else at all.

Concepts like good and evil means nothing to them, for they are as professional as a killer for hire can possibly be, being just as eager to kill a bastion of chivalry as they are eager to kill an oppressive dictator. As long as they receive their due payment, they would probably even kill their own kin, only slaying anyone for free when a client refuses to deliver the agreed money for their services.

Their prices per target aren't so cheap, though. Killing someone by stabbing them on the back might sound an easy thing to do, but assassinating that same person while making it look like an accident or blaming someone else, being able to escape unscathed and without fresh blood in your hands, is something entirely different. That demands a lot of time spent at finding the right time and place to strike, as well as careful planning and perfect timing to cease the opportunity. One wrong move and the killer might become the victim, so all things concerned, some targets might cost their own weight in silver to be assassinated.

As such, hiring an assassin in Arandolia is not so simple as saying a name and receiving a price. Of course, the more notorious the target, the more expensive it will be to get rid of them, but before even thinking about striking, a professional assassin must study if the job is even worth the trouble. A small non-refundable fee is therefore charged just for them to analyse if they will accept the job, and only after already having a plan they will contact the client with a price for the wanted kill. Half that price is then paid in advance, and the other half when news come of the poor bastard's death. Just pray that the assassin manages to do her job, because if she is captured or killed while attempting to do so, the advanced money you paid her will never be seen again.
