Alchemists
Alchemists are the "medieval scientists" of Arandolia. While the Engineers and the famous Polymaths of Aglaia focus their briht minds in building gigantic structures, complex contraptions and powerful machinery, the Alchemists focus on the molecular level of things. Through the use of chemistry and the sheer power of experimentation, they are able to use advanced methods and knowledge to come up with the most varied elixirs, explosives and substances you might imagine.

This means the creation of better medicine, stronger cement and all kinds of enhanced fluids that can only be created in a proper laboratory, contributing a lot both to civilian and to miltary ventures.

An alchemist can therefore be assigned to all kinds of tasks, like turning dirty water into drinkable, assuring that the soldiers' diet has all the nutrients they need to be in their full strength, or even brewing deadly greek fire to be used against the enemy. They are highly valued in any army, and even more valued in navies, where resources are scarcer and the space much more cramped.
Overall, Alchemists as individuals tend to be rather reserved and anti-social, but they get their job done, which is what matters in the end. That, of course, if they don't accidentally blow their labs in up a big cloud of toxic fumes after spending an entire night awaken reading their big books. Just as a precaution, you better build their improvised labs and workshops away from the rest of the crew, where any fire may be easily contained and not cause too much damage to its surroundings.
